INTERVIEW WITH GORGOROTH FOR DARK OATH MAG 94

I wont tell you much about this band…I’ll just tell you that thy’re from Norway and their name is GORGOROTH. If you still have doubts about them, see the photo…
DOM – Since I don’t have any bio of the band, I would like you to start by telling us when, how and why did GORGOROTH started and tell us your story until nowadays! While you’re at it, introduce us to the band…
Infernus – GORGOROTH started up sometime ago. I hate these ‘when and why’ questions. All from the beginning when we started to play our instruments (Notice: we actually did learn to play, that’s one of the reasons why we’re far more worth as a BM band than 99% of the international BM scene, which is nearly doesn’t consist of anything else but little imbecile Grind/Noise ‘bands’ who claim to be true BM – FUCK OFF!), CELTIC FROST covers and etc have been our theme. Line up Anno 94: Infernus-g, Goat – dr, Hat – v and Samoth – session bass.
DOM – How would you define GORGOROTH’s music?
Infernus – Full of dark moods, aggressive yet melodic.
DOM – Recently there has been some problems there with a so-called Black Metal Mafia or something like that. I heard the guy from BURZUM murdered Euronymous, do you know what happened? Is Count Grishnack in jail?
Infernus – Yes, unfortunately Euronymous got killed. C/G. is in hail. Yes!!
DOM – There has also been some trouble with Satanists because there were some guys burning churches and they accused Satanists, what was that all about?
Infernus – Yes, a lot of churches have been burnt lately. And I think its great, but due to the fact that I have never burned a church, I think its not up to me to answer questions like this.
DOM – Going back to GORGOROTH…You have released your debut demo last year (1993). How has it sold until now and what were the reactions? Positive?
Infernus – “A Sorcery…” has sold 500 copies ‘til now (550). Yes, the reactions have been ‘postive’.
DOM - You told the new songs are mostly only sung in Norwegian, why is that? What made you sign in Norwegian, doesn’t that make it harder for other people to understand what you sing about?
Infernus - Because we want it like that, we dont have to prove or explain anything to anyone.
DOM - Do you use any kind of effects on your new tracks like keyboards so?
Infemus-No, no keys or synths.
DOM – You are now goin to record some new tracks, tell me more about that…when and how will they be released? You told me that you will also release a 7” EP, is anything definite yet?
Infemus-We re going into studio on the 30 Jan ‘94 to rec. 8 trx. The two of the demo +6 NEW ones. Nothing is signed yet but I guess one LP/CD deal on a French label will be. Plus a two song promo which will be out short time after the remixing.
DOM – Besides this, what are your plans for the near future? Do you have any gigs planned or anything like that?
Infernus - No gigs or anything are planned- After the rec. sessions we wont be doing nothing special We’ll take 2/3 .. months off from rehersing.
DOM – Black Metal is about religion and occultism and that kind of things, do you take this seriously or do you see it just as a source of inspiration?
Infernus – Fuck off! Yes, we take that stuff seriously. We take GORGOROTH serious. We don’t play because its fun. Hmm…?
DOM – What about things like reincarnation and life after death, etc… do you believe in these things? Do you think there is something waiting for us when we die?
Infernus – I think there is something waiting for us when we die but I must admit that I don’t know too much about it.
DOM – I think you’ve said everything. I know you have some t-shirts for sale, tell us about them and the rest of your merchandise to finish…
Infernus – GORGOROTH shirts NKR 120/$17. “A Sorcery..” demo NKR40/$5. Traders MIGHT be welcome but write first. Zines send a black tape and 2 IRC’s for promo package. Watch out for the promotape, etc…
